Abel by Elizabeth Reyes Cover Reveal

Hey guys I don't know if you know but I am a huge Elizabeth Reyes fan. When I mean huge, I mean HUGE! I've all her books that have come out so far, and I am so happy to be able to give you the first look at the cover of ABEL. ABEL is the fourth book in the 5th Street series!

There is an excerpt down below but if you want to read the prologue just click here!

So here's the cover:

Here's an excerpt of ABEL:

Disclaimer: Details subject to change this is still a work in progress.

The sound coming from Nellie’s phone again woke them both. Abel had actually woken up a few hours prior when it had beeped a few times. Now it was ringing. He’d almost snuck out earlier while she slept soundly as he had all the other times. She hadn’t even stirred from the phone beeping. But he got caught up watching Nellie sleep. He knew now he must’ve dozed off again because the last thing he remembered was lying back on the pillow to gaze at that peacefulvery content expression on her face.

Not missing the surprised double take she did when she realized he was still in bed with her, Abel smirked, watching her reach for her phone. The second she glanced at the screen, she sat up quickly.
“Shit! Is that the right time?”

“Long exhausting nights will do that to you.” Abel didn’t even try to hide the immense satisfaction the very thought gave him. Bringing his hands behind his head in no hurry at all to get going, he smiled smugly. In fact, he couldn’t think of anything better than sticking around and going a few more rounds with Nellie. “But it’s Saturday, so it’s okay to sleep in, right?”

Nellie’s phone rang again, and already she was making her way off of the bed. “Yeah, but I’m supposed to meet someone this morning.” Grabbing a robe from the chair next to her bed, she flung it around her and held her hand up to Abel, while clicking the screen on her phone and bringing it to her ear before he could ask who she was meeting. “Logan? I’m so sorry. I’m running really late, but I can meet you in like forty minutes?”

In direct contrast to how fast he felt his insides warm, Abel sat up slowly, staring at her. He’d had a feeling from day one that if it ever came down to it that he might be a little bothered to hear about her with someone else. It was to be expected, right? Human nature. But he hadn’t expected to feel what he was feeling now.

“Oh, The Country Kitchen sounds delish. Their breakfasts are huge and I’m starving actually.”

He continued to stare at her feeling a bit of curiosity and something else as she rummaged through her drawers. This had to be business. No way was she jumping out of bed with him to go meet another guy for breakfast. Sure they had an unspoken understanding—no fucking demands and all that shit—but he’d been certain Nellie had more class than this. Was she really chatting it up with another dude while he was still lying naked in her bed listening to her?

The rest of her conversation was even more frustrating. The guy was obviously doing most of the talking because she wasn’t saying much more than “uh huh,” so she wasn’t giving him much more to go on about who this Logan guy was.
The choice of clothes she laid out on the bed as she continued with her call only made his insides warmer. Instead of a business suit like the ones that drove him nuts, she laid out a pair of jeans and casual knit top. As off-putting as the idea of her wearing a sexy skirt suit to go meet Logan at the Country Kitchen was, it would’ve at least meant this was for sure a business meeting, not a casual breakfast date with a guy.

He’d gotten out of bed himself now and watched as she brought out the big sexy wedge sandals from her closet. She finally hung up just as he’d finished pulling on his pants. He stared at her as he buttoned his fly, doing his best to keep his cool. If he blew up now, this whole thing could come to an end, as he’d known it would from the beginning, but he didn’t know if he was ready to end this just yet.

“I’m sorry,” she explained, still rushing around the room. “I don’t mean to run out on you like this, but if I’d have known you’d still be here this morning, I could’ve cancelled this last night.” She paused her rushing for a moment to glance at him a bit uneasy. “I just assumed, you know, like all the other times . . .” She looked away before she added the last comment. “That you’d be gone when I woke.”

Swallowing hard, he took in a slow breath. No way was he going to blow this. He knew he was walking on a tightrope. One wrong move and he could go down head first or worse. He could do the very thing they’d both said they wouldn’t do, and the tightrope could snap altogether, leaving no possibility of climbing back on. But he had to ask. “Who’s Logan?”

If you are wondering when ABEL is coming out Elizabeth doesn't have a date for it yet, but she says sometime later this year.

[Adult] Review: Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Author: Christina Lauren
Publisher: Gallery Books
Number of Pages: 320

Synopsis:
"An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other."
Let me just say a few thing about this book. I know that this book has gotten a lot of hype and good reviews. That is why I read this book. Apart from the curiosity of why a book is called Beautiful Bastard.

I did not really enjoy this book. I found the plot underdeveloped, and kind of clichéd. Throughout the whole book I found many parts where the author just rushed into things and didn't take the time to give a bit more information or just one or two more details to have us understand the book a little better.

The book started off bad, I could tell from page 10 that this book was on a one track lane. Sex, that was one of the only things that occurred in this book. I would get to one part and desperately hope that they were going to have a deep moment, one moment where I could gush over how amazing they were together. Did I get that chance?

Just more intercourse.
The character were basically the only thing I liked about this book. The were enjoyable. Bennett just made me swoon every time I read about him. That man is too good looking for his own good. Chloe on the other hand is determined, she is determined to get her name recognized in the world and I really respect her for that. Though when it came to Bennett she was very weak willed, which is not something I enjoyed about her.

The authors writing style was also something I liked. It was easy to read, understandable but at the same time not clichéd unlike the plot. I'm not saying that the plot of the book wasn't enjoyable-just not for me. Some people really enjoyed this book, they gave it 4 or 5 stars. This was just not my kind of book. I must say the cover is beautiful and the title is very intriguing. Makes you want to know why it's called Beautiful Bastard, though you figure that out on the first page.

Review: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Author: Marissa Meyer
Publisher: Feiwel and Friends
Number of Pages: 452

Synopsis:
"Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own. As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner."
Guys, I had to get this book as soon as I got Scarlet in my library. I was the first one to check it out and I love this book! This was amazing. I like this book better than Scarlet and I absolutely can't wait until Cress comes out. That cliffhanger might kill me.

I have to say that I liked this book better than Cinder. I really did like Cinder so I rushed to buy this book, but I really did enjoy this book more than I did Cinder. The reason I enjoyed this book much more? The characters. Hands down the characters were so much more enjoyable for me. The reason? I felt as if I could relate to Scarlet. She's not one of those bad-ass girls except for when her loved ones need her to be. I feel like I am that person. If someone tries to hurt my family or friends, I will take them down.  Then there's Wolf...can we just swoon over him for just a few minutes? Please? *5 gazillion minutes later* Wolf is amazing, he is just so freaking beautiful! He's a total bad-ass (reminds me of Travis Maddox-1 million points to Wolf for that). Yet, at the same time he's shy. He's not very outgoing or very cocky. Of course, we find out why this is later in the book.

I'm not saying that the characters in Cinder weren't amazing, I loved Cinder's nothing-will-stop-me-from-protecting-the -people-I-love attitude and Kai, it's just that Scarlet is just a little more relatable in my opinion. Then Wolf reminds me of Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster so...he goes up on that chart of best male characters ever written.

I like that there was an equal amount of Scarlet and Cinder chapters. I liked reading both their chapters because I didn't want to miss out on any Kai and Cinder potential happenings. I was really mad that none of that happened. WHY KAI?!?!?

That ending was the most brilliant ending ever! Marissa Meyer wherever you learned to write like this, I must know. That made me want Cress so bad, it's not even funny. I think I might die just waiting for Cress. Scarlet just had the most beautiful cliffhanger, I can't even say that I hate it. So I worship you so much, especially because of that ending.

This book is full of energy, and it makes you hold on to the book so much harder. You end up wanting to read slower so the ending won't come as fast. This is definitely a riveting read that pulls you in and never lets go, I was hooked from the first page!

Guys, if you haven't read Cinder yet, what are you doing? Go read it. Then buy this one and read it, because it is a must read. Marissa Meyer has become one of my favorite authors for a reason! This is HIGHLY recommended!!!

Top Ten Tuesday #6

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Books I Thought I'd Like MORE/LESS Than I Did is this weeks topic for Top Ten Tuesday!

*These are really in no specific order what so ever.

The Clique (The Clique, #1)1o. The Clique by Lisi Harrison-A bunch of catfights, drama, and rumours between girls. Every thing I hate about the female gender. Surprisingly I enjoyed this, though the rest of the series not so much.

The Complete Maus: A Survivor's Tale9. Maus by Art Speigelman- Graphic novels are so not my thing, but I read this for class and really lied it. This has convinced me to read V For Vendetta!

Audrey Hepburn: An Intimate Portrait8. Audrey Hepburn: An Intimate Portrait by Diana Maychick- I HATE non-fiction. This book changes nothing because this was written in a style that made it seem like a fiction book, so really enjoyed this. I read this for an English research project. I love Audrey, she is an amazing actress!

Belles (Belles, #1)7. Belles by Jen Calonita- This book reminded me about the Clique series and when I remembered how I felt about the whole series in general, I was really turned off to it. This book is really a great read about how important family is. The rest of this series is amazing as well, unlike the Clique series.

The Running Dream6. The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen- I really don't know why I wasn't interested it reading this, because this book is AMAZING! It is so inspirational and just such a great read. I HIGHLY recommend this one. This is more of a middle grade read from what I can remember, but still a great read for anyone.

My Life in Pink and Green (Pink and Green, #1)5. My Life In Pink and Green by Lisa Greenwald- I am not interested in make-up AT ALL. I don't wear it and don't care for it. This was still a great read, my sister forced me to read it and I really thank her for that! Great for girls in middle school and above. If you need to give a female book-lover a gift, give her THIS!

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer (Theodore Boone, #1)4. Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham- Amazing book, kind of a guy/middle grade read. That's why I wasn't into it, but it's really not that bad. Great read for guys.

Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard3. Breaking Night by Liz Murray- HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! It's a memoir which is non-fiction means that I wasn't all that into it, but I enjoyed this. It is so inspirational and is the best non-fiction book I have ever read!

Oath of Servitude (The Punishment Sequence)2. Oath of Servitude by C.E. Wilson- One word-pixies. Books about pixies always end up horrible for me. This book was really good!

Gossip Girl (Gossip Girl, #1)1. Gossip Girl by Cecily con Ziegesar- Same thing with the Clique but worse. I really liked the first 3 books but the fourth I just can't seem to get through.

I hope you guys liked this, if you guys want to me to review any of these books just say so! Did you guys have a book that you thought you wouldn't like, but did?

Review: The Elite by Kiera Cass

The Elite (The Selection, #2)Author: Kiera Cass
Publisher: HarperTeen
Number of Pages: 336

Synopsis:
"Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.
America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.
Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending."
This book was freaking amazing! I can't even say how amazing. I'm writing this review about 20 minutes after I finished the book. I loved this book even more than the first one. The first book was more about the competition itself, but The Elite brings to life what the real meaning of being a princess, and eventually queen, will bring. Because of all that, this book was a lot more intense that the first one was.

This book was amazing. The book is told in only America's point of view, yet I felt as if I knew was going on in everyone's minds. Kiera Cass, gives such vivid descriptions that have you holding your breath when America does, or crying when she is. She also does an excellent job of expressing the character’s emotions. The reader is dragged into those same emotions. That really made me really happy. I felt as if I just had to know what Maxon was thinking. I didn't get a lot of it, but I did get enough to keep me content.

This book is really intense! All those decisions that I made while reading The Selection just totally got unraveled when I read this. Guys, I almost when Team Aspen---I really thought I was going to hate this book at that moment. The truth comes out about so many things, you start to see how tough this competition really is, and so much more! I loved every minute of this book.

With the characters I really felt the same for the most part as I did in The Selection. I am so Team Maxon (Aspen, you can just leave. No one wants you in the palace!), America I freaking love, and I just want to kill Celeste (Guys, I'm pretty sure she isn't liked by anyone).  There was this one moment where I wanted to punch Maxon until his face turned purple.
Maxon is now banned from my heart. :(
He made up for it eventually so I still love him. (YAY!) If you guys have watched the spoilers that Kiera Cass has been giving out you know what I'm talking about....maybe.

I felt a little more for Aspen in this book. He wasn't mean or pressuring in this book, some would say that he was but I guess he sort of deserved that chance to be mad. He just wants the girl he loves to be with him.

The last page and half of this book was perfect! I was probably the biggest fan girl at that moment. Seriously, it made me want the third book so bad!! You guys have to read this book!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!!

Review: Hector by Elizabeth Reyes

Hector (5th Street, #3)Author: Elizabeth Reyes
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I really, really enjoyed this book! After Gio I was kind of hesitant about going into this book. The concept of Gio was really just not my thing so now I am really happy that I liked this book. Just so you know, this review might be a bit short.

Here's the synopsis:
"Womanizer—check. Cocky—check. Dangerous—checkmate.
Staying away from him was indisputably the sensible thing to do. The problem? She wasn’t just drawn to him; she was utterly mesmerized...
Charlotte Brennan is no stranger to heartache and mortification. Her past is full of both. So when amazing and incredibly intense Hector Ayala, literally jumps into Charlee’s life, her walls are immediately up. Letting her guard down and sharing her past and deepest secret is not happening. Charlee is not looking to get her heart crushed once again. However, her willpower proves to be no match for Hector’s mesmerizing pull.
Guilt is a profound emotion to deal with and no one knows this better than Hector. So when he gets the chance to make up for a past indiscretion that’s been gnawing away at him for months, he takes it. Doing so means he’ll also have to pass up pursuing Charlee, the only girl he’s ever been so fascinated by. But his inability to explain why they could never be has him dealing with a new kind of guilt—the guilt of knowing he is unwillingly breaking her heart."

Okay, first thing first, if you have not heard of Elizabeth Reyes, then you all need to get out from under that rock and go pick up one of her books! She is such an amazing author! The first book I read of hers was Forever Mine from the Moreno Brother's series. After that book got 5 out of 5 stars I was hooked. I do recommend that you start with Forever Mine.

So this book was....interesting. I really wasn't expecting the couple in this book. Now Elizabeth Reyes always has the most amazing male protagonists, and female's as well, but this time the female was someone totally different from all the other female protagonists in Reyes's books. At first, I was turned off a little because of that, and that's the reason I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars, but as I got used to Charlee I really started to like her. I ended up cheering for her and really, really liking her. I really liked how Reyes changed up her character's a little bit.

I loved in this book how there was something that people of this generation would consider somewhat nerdy-chess. Yet, in this book they made it out to be something that the cool guy played. I really lied that. Occasionally I play chess but I'm really bad at it so I stopped playing. This book made me want to play really bad, and it was so much fun to play when I did play, even though I lost (once again).

I feel as if Elizabeth Reyes went a little out of her comfort zone with what she usually writes, in this book. I really liked all the differences in her plot and characters that this book had. I feel as if Ms. Reyes's writing is starting to change in her books in this series.

I can't wait for Abel to come out! I am hoping that it comes out soon so I can read about the oh-so-amazing Mr. Abel. ^_^.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
