Here's the synopsis:
"After a year of partying, Samantha decides to buckle down and focus on college. Things are going great until a one-night stand leaves her pregnant and alone. Raising a child while going to school isn’t easy, but Sam is determined to be strong for her daughter. She doesn’t have time for guys or relationships, and takes great care to protect her child and her heart.Judd doesn’t fit the mold of a college ballplayer. His long hair and tattoos may fit the life he’s created for himself, but baseball is the one thing he takes seriously. When he meets Sam, he’s immediately drawn to her curves and refusal to put up with his crap. When Judd learns the truth, can he handle the responsibility that comes with loving a single mother?
Sam yearns for the fire that Judd fuels in her, but her child’s needs have to come first. Can two people at different stages in their life find a way to make a life together?"
This book was pretty good. It is more of a beach or laid-back kind of read and that may have been why I didn't enjoy it as much. I definitely recommend this for someone wanting to go out to the beach or wanting something that isn't very complex. This is also a quick read!
The characters in this book were great. I really enjoyed Judd as a character, and loved it when he cut his hair off (I'm not all that into long hair). Sam was also a great character, I felt as if a single mother's journey was really portrayed in this book. It showed all the happy moments but it also showed the frustrating moments. Many books tend to leave that part out and make that whole aspect all rainbow and sunshine. Well guess what people, being a single parent is NOT easy.
I was disappointed that since Karrie, the baby, was the whole focus point in this book, she really didn't seem like the whole focus of this book. I know it doesn't make sense but Karrie wasn't in this book a lot. She would be with Judd and Sam but she was just part of the backdrop most of the time-like the trees are. I honestly found something wrong with that and it bugged me throughout the whole book.
The ending was perfect with this book. It just hit that one spot where you can say that you don't regret reading the book. Without that spot you just end up hating yourself wondering why you wanted to read that book. So...
