Hey everybody! Welcome to Day 3 of my bookish birthday bash! If you don't know I turned 16 on February 20th and it was a big day for me.
Today I'd like to give a very warm welcome to Kate Karyus Quinn!
Interview
1. Tell us a little about you and your books!My first YA book, ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE, came out last year from HarperTeen. It is about a girl who is last seen screaming and covered in blood – and then she disappears. A year later she’s found with no memory of who she is or where she’s been. The only thing she does know is that she feels like someone or something else.
My second book is (DON’T YOU) FORGET ABOUT ME and it will be out on June 10th, 2014 again from HarperTeen. It is about a magical town called Gardnerville where no one gets sick and almost no one ever dies. Except there is a price to be paid for this and the teenagers of the town pay it every four years. The story centers around Skylar who lost her sister Piper during the last fourth year.
As for me I am a mom of two kids who spends most of my time looking for recipes, writing, or looking forward to my next nap.
2. Where do you get inspiration for your books?
Everywhere! Seriously, I am a voracious reader of not just fiction, but newspapers, magazines, and really whatever I can get my hands on.
3. What is your favorite thing about writing? Something you hate?
My favorite thing is when the words are flowing and the story starts to really come together. My least favorite thing is the opposite of that – when the right words elude me and the whole story feels like a hot mess.
4. If you could have any wish granted when it comes to your writing what would it be?
To be an Oprah’s book club pick? Really, I want to get my books into as many readers’ hands as possible and something like getting picked by Oprah can give a book a lot of visibility.
5. Who is your favorite male character from a book that is not yours?
Well I just read Winger and he was an awesome male character.

6. Favorite thing to do when you’re not writing?
Read or sleep or watch TV.

Love
8. Favorite book?
No, sorry. It’s impossible to pick one.
9. Favorite singer/band?
I am pretty crazy about Lorde right now and also have been playing the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack on repeat.
10. Favorite TV Show/Movie?
Lately I’ve really been enjoying The Mindy Project and Agents of Shields. I am also a huge Mad Men fan.
